I think YIMBYs need to make the case for all kinds of housing. The left always call for more 'social housing' - but this if often just a smokescreen for NIMBY-ism. If we built 3m more apartments with a reasonable profit margin for developers, this would free up an awful lot of other properties. The answer to "should we build more of these type of houses" - should always be YES!
I think that us YIMBYs really need to start calling "affordable housing" what it really is: Developer/Builder Subsidised Housing. To really remind people of the trade-off of these quotas/mandates.
I feel like that people will realise how enraging it would be to be forced to do your day-to-day work at cost without getting any reward for your efforts.
