Another outstanding pod! However, I do wish you had taken the opportunity when speaking to Lord Pack to take on the LibDems rampant NIMBYism - this is a NIMBY pod after all and the LibDems routinely oppose building pretty much anything, including (or especially) renewable power or housing infrastructure. It would have spiced up the pod nicely!

You might not be surprised that I take a slightly different view... but hope you might therefore find this an interesting listen too: https://www.markpack.org.uk/170525/podcast-how-to-build-houses-and-win-elections/

It's a very interesting interview with Cllr Keith House, leader of Eastleigh Council. Hats off to him for getting houses built in the area. I wish more LibDem, and indeed all councils, followed this model.

Here is a letter from Roz Savage MP for South Cotswolds (co-signed with a Conservative MP, which should ring some immediate alarm bells). In the letter Roz argues that the housing target for South Cotswolds is far too high, even as the local council gets to choose where and how those homes get built. The LibDem council could have taken the Eastleigh approach and said "yes, we can get these houses built but we need to get the infra in first". Instead they just had a kneejerk reaction, driven by the NIMBYs, to say no no no. People with nice houses shouldn't be the ones to tell those without good homes to live in - whether more homes get built.
