Given Calvert is where HS2 and East-West Rail cross, the vindictive part of me rues the decision to place one of the new towns on the EWR / East Coast Main Line rather than here.
On the plus side, there's a cracking bit of infrastructure supporting the incinerator Martin mentioned that's next to the bat tunnel. There was an old railway line passing it, so they have built a dedicated road from the A41 up to the incinerator, which is used by trucks delivering waste so they don't need to drive through the local villages.
As a YIMBY deep in enemy territory near the bat tunnel, I've been really enjoying the catharsis of sharing the pain of this area's insanity. The Claydon solar farm objection is particularly frustrating as there's a 400kV substation at East Claydon, which makes the location particularly suited for generation.
