Great episode. Interested in the re-branding decision. I liked the Abundance name as it sort says "well who doesn't want more stuff?". Where-as NIMBY is more confrontational and focuses on one, but probably the most critical, reason that UK doesn't have more houses/trains/energy - the insane self-serving petty meanness of the NIMBYs. But there are other factors why stuff doesn't get built in the UK, for example: projects always cost 3x their budget and take 3x longer than projected - so of course the Treasury push back; we don't have enough skilled workers; public finances are very tight, etc. Having said all of this, as a Podcast trying to attract subscribers, the YIMBY brand is stronger. There are YIMBY grouop within Labour and Conservatives - you should get them on for a chat. https://yimbyalliance.org/

Thanks Paul! Absolutely agree on all of the other stuff - we definitely want to continue talking about the Green Book etc. The foundational interest of the show is growth and progress - and whatever gets us there! The new name really is just a branding decision - I think YIMBY is more of an identity-activating thing – and if we want to speak to this community and get people hyped up, it's an easier sell than abundance, sadly.
